Phineas and Ferb is an Animated comedy-musical television series. Originally broadcasted as a preview on August 17, 2007, and officially premiered on February 1, 2008 on Disney Channel. Some interesting facts about Phineas and Ferb:

  • According to creator Dan Povenmire, Phineas and Ferb’s humor style is sort of a hybrid between ‘Family Guy’ and ‘Spongebob Squarepants’, two shows that he had worked on.
  • The first drawing of Phineas was on a piece of butcher’s paper, drawn with crayon in a restaurant.
  • It took creators Dan Povenmire and Jeff “Swampy” Marsh 16 years to get “Phineas and Ferb” on television.
  • Each episode contains at least one original song. The writing staff sings the song into the answering machine of Danny Jacob on Fridays to have it be magically written each Monday.
  • Dr. Doofenshmirtz’s name was originally Dr. Meddleshmirtz.
  • Dr. Doofenshmirtz’s inventions usually end with “-inator”.
  • Ferb rarely talks; in fact there are many episodes in which he has no lines at all. (According to Phineas, “Ferb’s more of a man of action”.)
  • Director/creator Dan Povenmire and director Zac Moncrief both left Family Guy, to work on this show.
  • Sometimes Jeremy works at “Mr. Slushy Burger”, and sometimes he works at “Mr. Slushy Dog”.
  • The family’s last names are Flynn and Fletcher.
  • The show takes place in Danville, which is in Jefferson County which is in the Tri-State Area. Danville is named after co-creator Dan Povenmire and Jefferson County is named after co-creator Jeff Swampy Marsh.
  • It is hinted in the series that Dr. Doofenshmirtz’s could be German, the word “Doof” his name is German for stupid or idiot.
  • Although Ferb rarely speaks, he has been shown to have a great singing voice.
  • Dr. Doofenshmirtz often refers to previous episodes.
  • It has been seen in several episodes that Ferb has a crush on Dr. Doofenshmirtz’s daughter Vanessa.
  • The giant floating baby head, which was first featured in “Phineas and Ferb” (2007) {One Good Scare Ought to Do It! (#1.33)}, has since become a running gag in the series. According to Dan Povenmire, the baby head came from “one board panel drawn by Michael Diederich and one of our directors, Robert Hughes thought it was hilarious and made a whole bit about it. Now it shows up all the time.”
  • While other characters simply call him Perry, Dr. Doofenshmirtz always refers to Perry by his full name (Perry the Platypus). He doesn’t abbreviate the names of his other nemeses either (Peter the Panda, Planty the Potted Plant, etc.).
  • Ferb, voiced by Thomas Brodie-Sangster, has a crush on Vanessa Doofenshmirtz voiced by Olivia Olson. In the film Love Actually, Sam (played by Thomas Sangster) learns to play the drums so that he can impress Joanna (played by Olivia Olson).
  • Several songs have been reused, such as P&F’s mom’s one hit wonder song that was later played as elevator music, and the Love Handel hit playing on the radio for Dr. Doofensmirtz.
  • Ferb’s “large eye” changes depending on what direction he’s facing. The large one is always the one furthest away from the screen.
  • Dr. Doofenshmirtz’s robot-man norm was originally a robot to target platypuses. In later episodes he is seen as his servant.
  • Jeff Foxworthy provides the voice for Meap when he uses the universal mustache translator that says “Made in Georgia.” Foxworthy is actually from Atlanta, Georgia.
  • When Linda and Candace are pushing the groceries through the store parking lot, you can see the ‘future’ versions of Candace from the Quantum Boogaloo episode hiding behind one of the cars.
  • Ferb’s computer editing transforms Candace into a live-action image of Ashley Tisdale, who provides the voice of Candace for the series.
  • When Ferb edited the last scene with Candance, he changes the appearance of Candace to look like a real person. That person isAshley Tisdale - the actress who does the voice of Candance.

  • In town, a milk truck outside the hair place says “Swampy’s Farm Fresh Milk”, a reference to the show’s co-creator/writer/co-executive producer Jeff “Swampy” Marsh.
  • Alternate title: “Secret Agent.”
  • Bass player Bobby Fabulous was based on show writer Bobby Gaylor. The drummer Sherman “Swampy” was based on creator ‘Jeff ‘Swampy Marsh and lead guitarist Danny was based on director/writer/creator Dan Povenmire.
  • Bowling for Soup performs the theme song for Phineas and Ferb and lead singer Jaret Reddick guest stars as Danny from Love Handel in several episodes and the movie.
